Present in the Pace

I feel like the best days of my life are fleeting before my eyes.
I'm trying real hard not to blink, but nothing stops the draining of the hours,
the days, weeks... turn into years and before I know it I will be telling all the
young mothers, "Enjoy it while it lasts."

On one hand, I'm like SLOW DOWN, bottle up all the memories, relish every moment,
capture all the scenes -- burn them on the hard drive of my heart, never forget.
And then on the hand, I'm like CAN THIS DAY GO ANY FASTER?!??! When you've got
toddler meltdown city on your hands, a to-do list a mile high, nothing but frozen
pizza for dinner... lunch... and breakfast. The complete parody of parenthood.

Life often feels more like the tango than a waltz.

Moving. Steady. Abruptly changing.
Wild. Intimate. Serious. Exciting. Abruptly changing.
Sippy cups. Tired eyes. Rinse. Wipe. Repeat. Abruptly changing.

Oh wait, that's not the tango, but my liiiiiife!

Last week I walked into my counselor's office; four walls, 100 sq feet of safe space.
God has done some crazy work on me in that place over the past two years.
Letting me yell, cry, laugh it all out.... process all the things.

"What's your pace like?" he challenged.

"Fast, messy, busy. You know, normal?" I self-soothingly shot back.

"At the end of the day, did you taste ANYTHING?" he pressed.

"Sometimes I catch it. Often, it's survive or die mode!"

silence.
MORE SILENCE.

Inner monologue: OMG how does he read my soul?!?!?!?!?!?

"Man. I need to work on being PRESENT in the pace."
Yes. Yes, be present in the pace.

The very next day, for real, I opened the mail box to find a package shipped from Washington.
A gift from a social media kindred spirit -- one with the most beautiful eye for
colors, movement.... you can't make this stuff up!

I burst into tears standing in my kitchen.

Be present in the pace.

I don't think it's just motherhood or parenthood in general - but many of us find ourselves
swimming hard in the big, loud ocean of life; barely tasting our days for fear of drowning in the process.

I know the song is like eight million minutes long, but this part right here >>>

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

It's never going to stop; the waves, the rush.
The pace is set, but I get to decide how present I am in the journey out into the deep.
And that is beautifully consoling. That even when I am up rocking the baby at 2AM
or hustling in my work; when I am cleaning up the kitchen for the thousandth time;
washing, wiping, putting away all the things....

I will have tasted.

Because I have been present in the pace.
Walking on those waves.

ACCESSORY || Ginger Lane + Goods for Good

I had the honor of meeting Ginger at the Influence Network Conference this past September!
Her joyful spirit, sweet smile, and enthusiasm for her handmade business totally captivated me!
Is still captivating me. She works for a cause and I love that. A portion of all sales goes
towards sponsoring children through Compassion International.

It is one thing to own and love a certain product... it is quite another to know, that every time
you slip on your cowl or open your clutch, you are helping impact another life!!!

WEAR || The Owl Tree Boutique + Giveaway

My shop started as a creative outlet.
For years I've made jewelry... far more than I could possibly wear!
So I started giving it to friends, family, and anyone who would take it.
I just wanted to unload - so I could make more!

I figured: why not open a shop!?

I am the mother of two, little beauties and the wife of a fantastic man.
My daughters have shown me how wonderful and strong we as ladies are.
I want to create things that remind and bring that out in us!

I try to find things that inspire me: music, nature, even a feeling...
and express that moment, that idea, through jewelry.

I want to empower women to be themselves and follow their dreams.
To always know they are strong and capable!

Take Me to The Mason Bar Company

Everybody by Ingrid Michaelson on Grooveshark

I am 10 years old and laying in the sun after hours and hours
of swimming in my grandma's pool. She calls us to the patio where
she has peanut butter and homemade jelly sandwiches, a bag of potato chips,
and Mason jars (the ones with the handles!) full of Tang!
The bright orange nectar and tinkling ice dance in my jar -
oh to drink "summer" again!

I am 14 years old and picking pears out by my garden.
Hundreds and hundreds of ripe, yellow fruits destined to be preserved
in Mason jars. I love washing out the jars before canning. Millions of little
bubbles and their rainbows held in the palm of that rounded glass. Shiny, squeaky
clean - lining dozens of shelves in my basement with fruit to last all winter long.

Mason jars are my old friends -
familiar, nostalgic, and comforting.

So you can imagine my JOY when stumbling upon
Miss Bobbi and her Esty shop: The Mason Bar Company!!!

Beautiful, glass Mason jar tumblers with BPA-free straws and lids.
She even offers sleeves to keep your Mason jar cozy!
Lots of happiness to chose from! It is now my "cup" of choice!!!

Each sip takes me on a trip down memory lane...
and that makes me feel LOVED.

Ladies and gentlemen, without further adieu...

Hello, my name is Bobbi and I am the original creator of the Mason Jar Tumbler.
My idea was born in August of 2011 while chatting with friends about the fact that
we were always spilling our drinks in the car while using our Mason jars.

Soon, we had invented the "crafted" tumbler lid and the idea became a hit in my
original Etsy shop! The original store was called Poppy & Pearl co. where I sold
handmade rings... which is a funny since I'm not a jewelry maker. Haha!
Beautiful things happen when you follow your heart...
even when it doesn't quite make sense.

I quickly began working on an "upgraded" tumbler lid as the originals were hand made
and didn't hold up for a long period of time due to rusting. My bpa free plastic lids
are now being locally manufactured and that's something that makes my heart very, very happy.
Hard work along with passion and support can truly change your life. I am proof that you can
take a little idea and turn it in to a reality! I didn't go to college. I didn't have a whole
lot in my checking account. Just an idea with a bit of faith.
