Blowing Jesus Kisses

My children remind me to be little. Their pure baby souls must be such a clear window to the very heart of God. They are my role models. Lord, give me the eyes, heart, and mind of a child so that I can draw ever closer to YOU... as easily as my children do. "He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.'" - Matthew 18:2-3. Last Friday, on our way out of the daily Mass chapel, I turned to my two year old and asked him to blow a kiss to Jesus. I was thrilled, but slightly shocked when he looked at me so seriously, grabbed my cheeks, and kissed ME on the lips. "No! Jesus! Blow JESUS a kiss, buddy," I urged. Once again my little guy kissed ME on the lips. Not gonna lie, I was delighted to be receiving FREE kisses from him (they usually entail bribery!). I was a bit concerned that he was confused so I tried once more, "Jesus! Jesus wants a kiss too!" At this point my son looks at me and draws his tiny hands to his lips as he says in his broken toddler English, "Jesus... Jesus... eat... eat..." Wow. He was right. Momma had received Jesus in the most Holy Eucharist and he was only trying to "blow kisses to Jesus" by kissing ME on the lips. My two year old gets it. He was getting as close to Jesus as he possibly could. Such a holy smarty pants. Melts my heart and reminds me to blow kisses to Jesus in my soul. I told my baby that he can always give momma kisses after communion if he wants to "blow Jesus a kiss." This brings me to the Feast of the Ascension! Thank you, Lord, for fulfilling all of your promises! To help my little one understand the beauty of this mystery, we released a white balloon with a colored picture and note to Jesus attached to the string. The balloon ascended like Jesus did, and once again we blew HIM kisses with our hearts as we prayed: "Take us home to be with YOU someday." "When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy." - Luke 24:50-51. XOXOXO

  2. Brittany I love it! Children are so pure. When I hit my arm the other day Ella came over to me kissed it and than put her hands on me and said a prayer that I would feel better. She is my little saint. :)
