Family Night

The kids are an irreplaceable part of our story. Their beautiful, little lines weave
excitement, variety, surprise, and challenge into our lives; leaving their mark, their legacy
all over the memory of our hearts. I'm glad they are part of our cast of characters.

They are our every day; the harmony to our melody. A song that we are singing pretty much
from the moment they come romping into our bedroom in the morning, begging for breakfast because
they are STARVING, to the moment they fall asleep at night. Parents, relate? A rhythm of potty breaks,
cutting up food, wiping away tears, saving the day. Our lives given to meet their needs, desires.
A crucifixion type love.

And I am honored, humbled to be chosen, to be given, this adventure of parenthood.

For awhile now, we have been setting aside one night each week to exclusively pursue our children.
It's like "date night", but for them. A time separate from the ordinary routine of cuddles,
stories, crafts, trips to the park, or a bath full of bubbles (that in general end up all over my
floor and walls.) Gives me wrinkles. That and play-doh. It's a time to turn off the cell phones,
and set aside all the "work" that just keeps on coming anyway. Restful for all.

Some weeks we get really creative and seem to really cater to "making all their dreams come true" -
like this week! Who knew a $4 car wash could be SO entertaining, fulfilling for a 2 and 4 year old?!

But sometimes we keep it simple - like a movie night with popcorn in a living room tent!

We are always looking for fun, new adventure ideas!
What are some things you enjoy doing with your little ones?
Tell me all the things!!!

happy blogiversary to me...

 photo 0abbd8ae-85da-4bef-bcf8-8f415b5b32bc_zps2472f1f7.jpg
Blogging is so much more than an online journal of daily activities. It is not just a pretty URL with
perfectly arranged HTML. But it is an avenue, a portal into the very hearts of humanity.
Beautiful, blank, white space begging to be filled with dreams, ideas, reflections, stories...

It is about community.
It is about reaching out to people you may never have the chance to meet in person.
It is about building relationships and sharing your testimony...
learning lessons from each other that impact life.

They say it takes a village to raise a child...
I think it takes a village to do great things in general.
We need each other.

Blogging has been such a blessed adventure for me.
One that I was reluctant to take. Fearing I would fail, I put the idea off for years.
But on March 22nd, 2012 I found me some beautiful, blank, white space...

and began.

THANK YOU readers, friends, and family... I wish I could come give each and every
one of you a hug. Praying the words and pictures found in the day-to-day posts can at least
hug your heart. You are loved.

we decided to make some little gifts to give away to those who have
touched our lives lately. these are so simple and sweet: stained glass candles

you'll need:
small candles in jars (we used $1 candles from Wal-Mart) + shredded tissue paper (Target)
+ modge podge (Hobby Lobby) + paint brush (Wal-Mart) + twine or ribbon (any craft supply store)

i painted the glass candle jars with modge podge and let my little guys
use their creative minds to place tissue paper shreds all over the sticky space.

when they were finished, i had to rearrange a few pieces so they would lay flat.
i then applied another coat of modge podge over the finished work, and added some twine.
